That is why the Gujarat state government has put up the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board known in short as the GSEB. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board or GSEB formed on the basis of ‘The Gujarat Secondary Education Act 1972(ગુજરાત માધ્યમિક શિક્ષણ અધિનિયમ 1972)‘ also known as the Gujarat Act No. 18 of 1973 extends to the whole state of Gujarat and was established to regulate the secondary education in the state of Gujarat and to establish a board for that purpose.

Latest Notification:

• The board exams for Classes 10 and 12 students in Gujarat, which were earlier scheduled to be conducted from 10 May 2021 to 25 May 2021 in offline mode this year, was later cancelled on 2 June 2021. Check out further details on GSEB Timetable.

For the first time, the Gujarat Board will have a 100% pass rate, as the Vijay Rupani-led government, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, decided to pass all the students registered to appear in the board exams. History of GSEB

‘The Gujarat Secondary Education Act 1972′ was responsible for the formation of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB).The Gujarat Secondary Education Board (ગુજરાત માધ્યમિક શિક્ષણ બોર્ડ) or GSEB is in charge of determining the policy-related, the administrative, cognitive, and intellectual direction of the state’s secondary and higher secondary educational system.

GSEB (Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board) is responsible for the functions of the Classes 1 to 12 and is also in charge of prescribing the study materials for all these Classes. The roles undertaken by the Gujarat Secondary Education Board are many. From the administrative responsibilities of managing the schools under the Gujarat secondary education board to things like providing the right path for intellectual and cognitive growth for the students are the GSEB’s responsibility.

Functions of Gujarat State Board

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board have been conducting the state level exam in the state of Gujarat for years. The main task of the Gujarat secondary board is to devise a well-oriented syllabus for the secondary level schools and to find the right textbooks which cover the complete syllabus with proper explanations for all the State and private schools coming under its administration. The GSEB is also in charge of duties like evaluating the performance of already registered schools, inspections of the schools under the Gujarat education board and affiliating new schools to the GSEB board. Gujarat board grading pattern:

GSEB has updated its ranking system. Before 2011 every student’s rank studying under Gujarat board was based on percentage. Now it is changed to percentile. How to calculate percentile rank? Firstly, subtract percentile from the 100. The second step is to multiply the answer got in step 1 with the total number of candidates who appeared in the batch. The last step is to divide the answer got in step 2 by 100. In this way, a student’s rank can be determined.
