The West Bengal Public Service Commission conducts the state Civil Services Exam, named WBCS (EXE) Exam. The exam takes place annually or as and when the Commission announces the date. The WBPSC exam is a three-tier examination- Preliminary, Mains, and Interview.

WBCS Interview 2020
As WBCS 2019Â interview took place online; it is expected that WBCS Interview 2020 could also take place virtually. Candidates must note the procedure that was followed during WB PSC Interview 2019:
- Candidates will receive their time slots on their e-mail IDs registered with the Commission.
- One can take this interview from any location.
- A candidate has to make himself/herself available online 30 minutes ahead of their time slot.
- Candidates should make sure that the place where they take their interview is a well-illuminated one without the presence of anyone else with them.
- Candidates are advised to keep their mobile phones handy just in case the video call is struck due to unseen circumstances.
- Important documents, that candidates must upload at least three working days at the official website are:
- Recent passport-sized coloured photograph
- Certificate/Admit Card of Madhyamik/equivalent examination showing the date of birth
of the candidate - Graduation Certificate/Mark Sheet
- SC/ST/OBC certificate, if applicable
- Current ‘NCL’ certificate (for OBC candidates only)
- PWD certificate, if applicable
- Choice sheet in the format provided at ‘Annexure-B’
WBPSC Exam Preparation
The WBCS Exam Syllabus is slightly related to IAS Exam. The UPSC Exam starts its recruitment process in the month of February and it usually declares the end result by the month of April/May of next year. The UPSC exam process takes one and a half years, similar to WBPSC which also completes its recruitment procedure in the same time-span.

The WBPSC prelims exam has only one paper on ‘General Studies.’Â It has 8 topics:
- English Composition
- General Science
- Current Events of National and International Importance
- History of India
- Geography of India with special reference to West Bengal
- Indian Polity and Economy
- Indian National Movement
- General Mental Ability
The WBPSC Mains Exam has below-given six compulsory papers:
- Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali
- English
- General Studies-I
- General Studies-II
- The Constitution of India and Indian Economy including role and functions of Reserve Bank of India
- Arithmetic & Test of Reasoning
